Lakeland Maze's pumpkin patch is open daily 24 to 31 October, Levens Hall runs candle-lit ghost tours 29 Oct to 1 Nov and Holker has Halloween on 30 and 31 Oct.

Halloween 2026 falls on a Saturday, at the end of the October half term (Monday 26 to Friday 30 October for Westmorland and Furness schools). Kendal town centre has no Halloween event of its own: neither Kendal BID nor Visit Kendal’s events diary listed one when we checked on 3 October. The Halloween programme is out of town, at Levens Hall, Lakeland Maze Farm Park in Sedgwick and Holker, with family sessions and horror films at Brewery Arts in the town.

The quick answer

  • Pumpkin picking: Lakeland Maze Farm Park, Sedgwick, LA8 0JH. Open weekends from Saturday 3 October, then daily from Saturday 24 to Saturday 31 October. Pumpkins are priced by size and you need a farm park ticket.
  • Ghost tours: Levens Hall’s candle-lit Ghostly House Tours, Thursday 29 October to Sunday 1 November, at 4pm and 5pm. Book ahead; not for under-5s.
  • A full Halloween day out: Halloween at Holker, Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October, 10.30am to 4.30pm, £12 a child plus an adult Gardens ticket.
  • Sold out already: Brewery Arts’ Kendal ghost walk and film on Sunday 1 November.

Pumpkin picking: Lakeland Maze Farm Park, Sedgwick

The nearest pick-your-own pumpkin patch to Kendal is at Lakeland Maze Farm Park, Raines Hall, Sedgwick, LA8 0JH, a working farm the park itself describes as “near Kendal”. The farm says its patch is open every weekend from Saturday 3 October, then daily for half-term week, Saturday 24 to Saturday 31 October (Lakeland Maze: pumpkin patch). Its homepage says the farm park is currently closed on weekdays, so outside half term this is a Saturday and Sunday trip.

What to know before you go, all from the farm’s own pages:

  • You cannot buy a patch-only visit. The patch sits inside the farm park and access is “strictly for those with farm park admission tickets”.
  • Admission from 3 October to 1 November is £12.16 for an adult or a child aged 2 to 15 booked online, or £13.50 at the door. Seniors (60+) pay £8.83 online or £10.35 at the door, and under-2s are free but need a place booked. Opening is 10am to 5pm (Lakeland Maze: prices).
  • Pumpkins are extra, each priced on its size, and there are orange, white, green and striped varieties.
  • Book ahead. The farm says visitors without a booking may be turned away when it is at capacity.
  • No dogs, except registered assistance dogs.
  • Staffed pumpkin carving runs at peak times, so you can carve on site and leave the mess behind. The maize maze has closed for the year.

Levens Hall: ghostly house tours, 29 October to 1 November

Levens Hall, five miles south of Kendal at LA8 0PD, is open into November for the first time this year, and its Halloween programme is the biggest near the town. The hall lists a Halloween scavenger hunt in the garden, creative workshops, a costume competition and candle-lit Ghostly House Tours (Levens Hall: Ghostly House Tour).

  • Ghostly House Tours: four evenings, Thursday 29 October to Sunday 1 November, at 4pm and 5pm, each lasting about an hour. They must be booked in advance. The tour ticket covers the evening tour only, not daytime admission. Levens Hall says the tours are not suitable for children under 5 or for people with reduced mobility. The event page does not show the tour price; it appears when you book.
  • Halloween ceramic painting: Tuesday 27 October, 11am to 1pm. A pumpkin lantern is £20 and a star jar lantern £23, with glazes and kiln firing included, for adults and children (Levens Hall).
  • Mask workshop: Thursday 29 October, 10am to 11.30am. Watercolour Halloween or autumn masks with the artist Bob Sutcliffe, £17 a child, adults free, booked through bobsutcliffeart.com (Levens Hall).

Daytime admission is reduced from Monday 5 October to Sunday 8 November because parts of the gardens close to protect the paths: house and gardens £15 adult, £5 child, £35.50 family; gardens only £9 adult, £3 child, £21.50 family. On weekdays from 5 to 23 October the house is open for guided tours only, and the last day of normal opening is Sunday 8 November (Levens Hall).

Holker Hall: Halloween, 30 and 31 October

Halloween at Holker runs on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October, 10.30am to 4.30pm, at Holker Hall & Gardens, Cark-in-Cartmel, LA11 7PL, on the Cartmel peninsula (Holker: Halloween at Holker).

  • Children can carve their own pumpkin, follow a ghostly trail through the gardens and make monster crafts. Halloween face painting is extra, paid on the day.
  • Tickets are £12 a child, bought alongside an adult Gardens entry. Holker recommends booking in advance and says a limited number of extra pumpkins will be available on the day, first come, first served.
  • Storytelling with Taffy Thomas, the Storyteller Laureate, is in the Library at 11am and 2pm, about an hour each. It is £5 a person and every adult and child attending needs a ticket.

World of Beatrix Potter, Bowness: 31 October

Bea-tricks and Bats on Saturday 31 October, 10.30am to 4pm, in The Burrow at the World of Beatrix Potter, Crag Brow, Bowness, LA23 3BX. Children decorate a bat box to take home, at £6.50 a box. It is a drop-in session: book ahead or turn up while spaces last (World of Beatrix Potter). The attraction’s other half-term shows are on our October half term page.

In Kendal: Brewery Arts

Brewery Arts, 122A Highgate, LA9 4HE, is running Cine-Macabre, a season of horror and ghost films, to 11 November (Brewery Arts: Cine-Macabre). Its Halloween fortnight, with each screening £7.50 on the film’s own page:

  • Frightful Family Crafts, Saturday 24 October, 2.15pm to 3.45pm, Studio 3, for children aged 4 and over with an adult. £6.50, or £12 a person including Hocus Pocus (PG) at 4.15pm, with seats kept for the craft group (Brewery Arts).
  • Zombie Flesh Eaters, Thursday 22 October, 8.15pm (Brewery Arts).
  • Pulse, Wednesday 28 October, 8.15pm (Brewery Arts).
  • Creepshow, Friday 30 October, 7.45pm, then Trick ‘r Treat at 10.45pm (Brewery Arts, Trick ‘r Treat).
  • Halloween (15), Saturday 31 October, 8.15pm (Brewery Arts).
  • The Uninvited and Kendal Ghost Walk, Sunday 1 November, 5.15pm, £19.50: a 75-minute walk through the town’s darker history with Simon Kurt Unsworth, then the 1944 film. It was marked sold out on 3 October (Brewery Arts).

Brewery Arts says a commission of £2.50 to £3.50 is included in its ticket prices.

Not confirmed for 2026

  • Brockhole on Windermere has run a ticketed Halloween Experience in past Octobers. Its website carried no 2026 Halloween page or date when we checked on 3 October.
  • Lakeland Wildlife Oasis, Milnthorpe, has run “Boo at the Zoo” at Halloween before, but we could not find 2026 dates on its own site.
  • Kendal town centre: no trail, parade or trick-or-treat event is listed by Kendal BID or on Visit Kendal’s diary.

We will add any of these when the organiser publishes dates.

Getting there

Levens Hall, Lakeland Maze and Holker are all outside the town. For trips to Brewery Arts, our parking in Kendal page has the car parks and charges, and Kendal roadworks and travel has the closures, including Nether Bridge.

For the rest of the half term see our October half term page, and for the week after Halloween the fireworks and bonfire night page. Everything else coming up is on what’s on in Kendal this month.
