Kendal’s Remembrance Sunday is Sunday 8 November 2026. Kendal Town Council says the town will mark it “with a service at the Parish Church and a commemoration, including 2 minute silence at 11:00 at the war memorial in Market Place”. Armistice Day follows on Wednesday 11 November, when the Mayor lays a wreath at the same memorial.

The council describes Armistice Day as “a moment of reflection following the main commemorative events held on Remembrance Sunday”, so the Sunday is the day the town turns out.
How the morning has run before
The council has not yet published the 2026 running order. The most recent detailed timetable is the one Visit Kendal printed for 2023, and it gives the shape of the morning (Visit Kendal, November 2023):
- The Mayor laid wreaths at the Gilkes memorial and Romney Gardens first.
- 9.30am: wreath laying at the war memorial in Market Place, with veterans, members of the armed forces, the Royal British Legion “and those who wish to pay tribute”.
- 10.25am: a procession from the Town Hall down Highgate to Kendal Parish Church.
- 10.45am: the Remembrance service at the Parish Church.
- 11am: a piper or bugler played the Last Post and the Exhortation was read in Market Place, for people not at the service.
- Around 11.45am: the parade returned up Highgate to the Town Hall.
Treat those times as a guide until the council confirms 2026’s. If they follow the same pattern, the best places to stand are Market Place for the silence and Highgate for the parade.
Getting there
The parade uses Highgate. There is no free council car park in Kendal, but South Lakeland House has a Sunday rate of £1.50 all day. Details are on our parking in Kendal page, and any advertised closures will appear on Kendal roadworks and travel.
